So, I'm now in NYC! I flew in a few days ago and I'm staying with a fabulous friend until I move into my own apartment, which should be in about a month. I looked at a place yesterday and it is a great deal, so fingers crossed that one works out!
Okay, confession time ... I haven't been journaling regularly for about a month now. And I've been very loose with my food choices. I also haven't really been weighing myself all that often. I used a scale at my friend's apartment that I've used before and I think I am 4 lbs. heavier. I know that doesn't sound like a lot, but it worries me. So, I jumped onto eTools on the WW site to journal what I ate starting yesterday ... no lie 81.5 points! (That was hard to write.) I didn't even know that was humanly possible. You know what the biggest trouble makers were ... scrambled eggs that I had at a restaurant, fried calamari (obviously!), and wine. And I didn't even really like the eggs or the calamari. I don't know why I ate them. The wine, well that was totally my doing and I enjoyed it. I really need to go back to a simpler way of eating all the time and get over the feeling like I need to "eat like everybody else". I feel bad when I don't want something like fried calamari, but the person I'm with does (my dad loves it). So I agree to it and feel compelled to eat it so they won't feel awkward eating it alone. I didn't really realize I had been feeling this way. I really got into some bad habits while living with my parents. I hope living with my friend for a month won't lead to more bad habits. I knew that I was lucky I was losing the weight while living alone. I made all the choices of what came into the house. I didn't realize how hard it was to eat healthy around other people all the time. And going back to work is going to add more stress to how and when I eat. I guess that might be why I've been feeling anxious lately.
I'll be around more often as I embark on these new eating patterns and try to figure it all out.

I have been wondering when the big move east might be.
Eating while living in other people's homes might be more a part of it that living with other people - you know?
Once you get settled into a routine - I bet it will be easier.
you are smart to get back to tracking and get back on the scale on a regular basis.
I can't remember - was there a group/meeting/leader that you liked in NY???
Welcome back to the east cost baby!!!!! :) I'm so thrilled that things are going so well for you! I have no doubt that as soon as you get settled in there you will have all of your healthy living habits right back in place. :)
i never used to like calamari but once i had a really good dish and i was hooked! the lighter/flakier the breading the better! ;o)
anyway, this month has been rough for me too but we have to make the best of it and stay positive... you moved across the country and that's a HUGE deal - let yourself get settled and then you can refocus... i love NYC (i lived in brooklyn for 2 years after college - those were some good times)... :o)
I know what you mean about eating worst with others. Even more so when staying with parents, where all the bad habits had developed in the first place. I’m currently living with my parents’ and my lack of control over everything has caused my weight loss to spiral or spin rapidly into space (don’t know which way I’m going whenever the goal is to lose).
Congratulations with the job and moving back to NY! I am also returning to work. It’s nice to feel valued again, but I miss my free time and being with the kids. I guess I can’t have it all.
That's a lot of food in one day, but you caught yourself at 4 pounds up so that it doesn't keep going---and that's awesome.
Hey lady! Glad to hear you are in NY! Keeping my fingers crossed for the apartment!
I think you'll get rid of the 4 lbs. with ease. I know we've all been guilty of eating to please others or to eat like everyone else, but that will get old soon.
Hi Ladies,
I'm a new blogger so this is looking fun. My daughter and I would love to come to NYC sometime. We are in the Pacific NW and are blessed to have a lot of fresh veggies, unlike my relatives in the South,we eat deep fried and smothered in sauce when we visit...I take broccoli when I go. Actually I have just started using Sxinney water & Crave,it's amazing and I have lost 13 pounds in 3 weeks. It is new to the market so if you want info on it go to www.getfitlivsxinney.com It has no stimulants as well and I just drink my Sxinney water all day.SOo now I can avoid eating the "others" food.
Thanks Colleen
Ummmmm...I know you've been busy...but where have you been?
It's MAY now Trixie - time for a NY update!!!
